Title: Beetroot storage box
Post by: Steveharford on August 31, 2013, 09:11
About to harvest a load of beetroot for storing in sand. I intend to use washed sand in a plastic storage box with lid, as found at all DIY shops. Has anyone had any problems with this, such as the beetroot sweating and rotting. I know a wooden box is the traditional thing to use but I haven't got one.

As you say, sweating can/may be a problem.  Do you have an area on your potting/propagation bench just to pile up the sand?

Cheers,   Tony.

Hi Tony. Unfortunately I don't have any space like that. Anyway I have just purchased three plastic boxes with lids. Maybe if I don't fit the lids properly I won't have a condensation/ rot problem. One way to find out I guess.
