Try growing Harrier, the fruits aren't enormous, but they are a bushy plants rather than long vining squash.

I meant that about trailing squashes and pumpkins in general. Butternuts are the fussiest of them all, I tried. Don't you want to try Crown Prince or something like that, instead?
