Hello,

I've been scouring the internet after loosing most of my chokes to the permafrost that frequented my garden for most of the winter. Does anyone know where to get Gros Vert de Laon artichoke plants?

Thanks!

Tim

Not plants, but I bought seeds from here:
http://www.originaltouch.co.uk/acatalog/Gros_Vert_de_Laon.html

They have germinated well and are coming along nicely in a cold greenhouse.  Much to  my surprise over half the plants I bought at a local market last year have survived.

Thanks, but I was really after plants/offsets as I've missed the boat a bit for bringing these on as seeds and want to be assured of true variety  ;)

I'm sure I looked at them when I was looking for Artichokes and thought they might be from-seed ... but they have GROS CAMUS DE BRETAGNE too, so I reckon they are vegetatively grown.

I think I'll treat myself to a couple of each variety and use them as Mother plants :)

Thanks for that

The order form on www.cgf.net (which I didn't look at earlier) has:

50p per plant mail-order-charge
then
£7.00 carriage charge (1-3 plants, £11 for 4-10 plants)

that's going to make a couple of £6.50 Artichoke plants pretty expensive!

Although I'm surprised there aren't more suppliers.  All the folk on eBay are offering varieties which can be raised from seed, and I haven't seen any indication that they are NOT from seed. I have plants of unknown origin, and whilst they are "OK" I now want some much better, bigger-header, plants grown from known Mother plants.

EDIT: Even better - "Laurel Farm Herbs" are just down the road from someone I visit regularly :)
