Woodshavings & chicks
« on: April 12, 2009, 20:13 »
Hi all,

We have got four day old chicks in a brooder, woodshavings on the floor
covered in paper towel, when is the towel not required ?
The chicks seem to eat the shavings at the moment.

One other question do Silkie chicks have to have there wings clipped
and if so at what age.

thanks ::)

You can remove the paper towel now if you have shavings on the floor and wing clipping Silkie chicks I'm not sure at what age for that breed but I don't clip my girls wings until they are approx 18 wks old when they are fully feathered.

Silkies don't fly so do you need to clip their wings?
