I bought some sweet peas in a pot for £1. Do I just plant the whole thing or try to tease the plants out separately? Any advice appreciated.

If they were mine - I'd break the soil into 3 or four pieces, depending on how many plants are in there - rather than try to separate each single plant, as that may break too many roots.

Chatting with our fave GC manager the other day, she said that it's an easy question to ask, and someone bought loads of pots thinking she had to use them all in one space! I used to shove the whole lot in one place too!

The roots will be tangled, and sometimes look a bit sad after getting un-tousled, but never fear, as long as you pinch them out after a few double leaves, they'll soon be all over the place!

I have this afternoon planted mine in clumps of about 4 or 5 around an obelisk.  Now they,ve got two chance    Mrs Bouquet

I followed mumofstig's advice but the plants are still only around 15 inches tall. I've never grown annual sweet peas so dont know if this is normal growth or if I have to do something else. I have a perenial sweet pea that just comes back year after year(but no scent)

Sorry for the novice questions, but my sweet peas are now about 3ft high and have flowers starting to emerge. Do I need to do anything? Will the flowers all be different colours?

The colours will depend on the seeds you sowed - some packets are mixed seeds, some will be single variety / colour.

Just keep watering and picking the flowers once they start. If you let the plant set seed (it looks like a sugarsnap pod) then the plant will eventually slow down flowering because it thinks it's done its job for the season. Keeping picking means they don't set seed and have to keep trying to do so!

Hello  a good trench a spades depth plenty of muck refill with soil plant and plenty of Watter as my Grandad use to say ,he use to have stems 18 inches long with 6 inches covered with flowers,use to win local flower show every year with themhe had 3 rows one all purple one all white and a row of mixed ones ,jezza

Mine are scrabbling around, I don't mind this informal attitude, and I am picking a few flowers.  Mrs B

Sweet peas like all legumes don't like their roots disturbed so do the divide it into pieces trick. Water in well and that should do it.
