Like you Wolverine we were inundated with flies this past summer, talked to friends at work and even the ones who dont have any animals or pets either at home or near to them had the same problem.  I realise that SW France is a bit away from you but it does seem to have been a summer with too many flies for everyone.

Congratulations to the Wolverines!
Wouldn't worry about combining babies and hens - I'm sure it will all slot into place after a few weeks.
My advice would be to be religious about hand hygiene and make sure you get the chx as self-sufficient as poss round the time your baby's due as you'll probably be short of time and energy!
I've got grandchilders from 11-0 and they all really love feeding the chx, collecting eggs, generally plaguing the birds! And it's always boiled eggs for breakfast at nan's!

Deep cleaned my 40 hens house yesterday..seriously yucky job... if you can muck out hens nappies are a doddle so don't fret you'll get there!!! Babies are amazingly robust bouncy and bendy. I dropped my daughter onto a concrete floor (on her head) and she's now a very bright young lady of nearly 17.... My son fell down the stairs as a toddler crashing into the front door......just fine at 18.
Love ,kindness, and firm but flexible are good rules to guide you.

Well done, Wolverine and Mrs W.

Fly nets are available to fit over prams, or a fine net curtain would suffice.

Scrambled eggs would be a no-no until at least six months - maybe longer nowadays, although my three month old Son enjoyed yolky bread soldiers on his first Christmas day 37 years ago.

Oh and my advice about well-intentioned Mums-in-law (and I'm one too), just say Yes and No at the appropriate places in conversations, then quietly do things YOUR way.

Best wishes, cathangirl
