New to incubating
« on: March 23, 2007, 20:46 »
Am just going to venture out and buy a small incubator for £58 that takes up to 12 hens eggs. Can you give me any hints. It is a very basic, manual turning make and I plan to put some call ducks, Welbars and Pekins in (on different occasions). How long can you store the eggs for prior to putting them into the incubator? Do you store them at room temperature or in the fridge? I have read up a bit about it an some people suggest turning them 5 times a day minimum and some only 3 times. Any help greatly received.
P.S am now over run with eggs thanks for the previous advice

we keep ours at room temperature and turn them twice a day... Breakfast and before we go to bed... seems to work for chickens / ducks and geese...

Don't tend to try and incubate anything over 10 days old. The fresher the better...
