OK Munty Aunty is here to look after you :D
Hi BJ
*Whisper in your ear* Be careful how you use the S.. word. Munty has a delicate medical condition, we don't want a fatality on the plot.

I usually get my Warrens from a guy in Knutsford Mr. Fahey I think his name is. They were £3.50 - £5.00 last year. I don't have his number to hand but I know he sells at Cheford market. I will be going on Monday so I will see if I can get it for you. I don't know what markets you have up your way. They may be the best way of getting contacts but just be careful what you buy. I know they have a market in Leek which I have been to before. You could try R Miller Preston 01772 613719 he sells Black Rocks. Pickles Poultry Lancs. 01706 812977 Welsummers and Light Sussex. The free papers such as Buy and Sell often have local numbers in. Let me know how you get on. 8) :)

And this is the link to the rescue co-ordinators of the Battery Hen Welfare Trust if you are interested. Like we said, 50p a hen. I've had 45 since last September, and they are doing well. We had 50, but lost 5, but a lot of that is the stress and being all egged out, poor little things, but like I said the others are doing really well.

Out here you can buy day old sussex for 72 cents approx 50p and POL Marans for 5.50 euros £3.80 - I am picking up some Pkin ducks day old on the 4th April for 1.12 or 77p at 4 weeks they will be 3.7 or £2.55.
Our 1st 20 are now 14 days old and growing like mad and will be turned out in 2 weeks time to make way for the next batch. Our local shop lets us have the trimmings from the store veg which has kept the residents going over winter till the veg patch strts to get going , just rotavated it on Saturday and now it is trying to snow. friends bought some seedpots from the UK and hope to have them planted in approx 2 weeks when the sun gets going again

Just got back from Chelford Market. Warrens and Blackrocks were bringing about £5 each for good POL pullets. R J Fahey 01565 722230 Warrens at Knutsford. I spoke to him at the weekend - he will not have any ready until the end of April. He is taking orders. They are good birds. Another good place to look is adverts in the Farmers Guardian. :)

Hi Guys
ive bought six Rhode Island Red Chickens fertile eggs and they are in the incubator me and my daughter are chief egg watchers at the moment so see if these hatch...
-
well done bj /good luck with ya eggs. on a sour note not all first time hatchings take when its new to those trying to breed a few birds .little things can and will go wrong .check the water conatiner every 4 hours or according to the manufactureres instructions and then still knock an hour off anyways cos things are different in your home to what they are in a factory .above all keep a record so you can see what your doing  and most of all have fun
-
Thankyou aww very nice of you to say all that, well I have researched and researched and oh researched some more,we have the thermomenter, hygrometer, incubator chart on the wall pencil there to write records checked every 4 - 41/2 hrs so up to now everything is working out ok by 11yr old daughter is beside herself whenever she walks past, jumping up and down and saying when will they hatch arrggg lol,its really good learning for her too and shes good at it she know EGGsactly what to do,washing hands etc so all good up to now will keep you posted....Fingers X'd
