started mine in the week, cos when i looked at them in their box they had started to sprout anyway. So put them in their trays in the light (still cold out there tho' so don't know why they started so soon)
Just hope they don't grow too quickly as unless spring comes suddenly they have got to wait a long while :(

I started chitting mine 3 weeks ago, however today I have planted 5 of the 'Swift' in tubs and popped them in the greenhouse (I got fed up waiting).  :nowink:

I have left the others to carry on chitting.   (Until I get bored again!).  ;)

I voted no. I am trying to be really patient this year and not do things too early. Should I start my earlies off now? I have no greenhouse or owt.

I've not, but I have bought them in and stored them. I'm only doing a few earlies and investing most of my available space to maincrop maris piper.

If you want to see some serious chitting have a look at richy's blog.

I can't chit what I haven't got  :D

Ordered mine from the lotty this year (that makes me sound like I've been at it for years, when in truth this will be my 2nd year!!) and they haven't turned up yet - I thought the old fella's would be down there today but it was deserted when I went down, so it will be next weekend at the earliest before I get mine.  Just doing Kestrel as they were brilliant last year, tastier and more slug resistant than the Wilja I also did.

Yep. I like a good chit the first week of February.

Anyway they were doing it themselves in the bags.
