hello everyone

can you please enlighten me why pigeons sit on the branches of our plum and damson trees and shred the leaves until the leaves resemble skeleton leaves?  We have resorted to putting pieces of silver foil around some of the branches as a deterrent.

any ideas or advice please.

I've not encountered them eating leaves before, but hopefully others might have a clue

Woodpigeon eat leafbuds of quite a few species of tree , Beech and Chestnut are a couple of their favourites.
Plum and Damson are new ones to me .
I think once the leaves grow bigger they become less attractive so just keep scaring for a few weeks.
