that's what i thought, also if they knew he was too frightened to come out because of the noise, why didn't they just leave the doors open and back off, there was no need for him to have been in there for 4 weeks, and they knew he was there.

leaving the doors open costs money, is my guess, but like you say why not call the RSPCA sooner or Cat's protection.

Years back we noticed a kitten locked in the empty shop next door. Rang the estate agent who was too busy to drive over and open it up. So I rang again pretending to be a reporter from the local paper... 5 minutes later we had a kitten.
