Flying ants

30 minutes ago, they started. The air is full of them, I have had to come in. Watering later - much later, Mrs Bouquet

We also had them in the greenhouse covered them in ant powder and fled , by the morning they were all dead

A couple of nights ago I went into the greenhouse & there were hundreds of them all in the roof on the spiders webs up there. I left well alone & thought what a good thing I left the webs. The next morning nearly all the webs were clear & I've not found the bodies or where they went to. So I don�t know whether now I�ve got huge fat spiders or Houdini style flying ants

There�s been a few others on the streets as I�ve been walking about.

I leave them alone as well. There are spiders in the greenhouse roof space and a toad that patrols down below, plus frogs in the back garden pond that all love flying ant days.

If you keep chickens, they go really quite hysterical for a while, running all over the garden making excitement clucks as they discover treasure absolutely everywhere. This subsides into contented lounging on the lawn when they have eaten enough to stuff themselves to nearly bursting

I notice a few flying ants appearing on the paths end of last week.

I have always done this with ants.
Watch where they are going to/from.
Make up a solution of vinegar and water and spray that on their trail. It does not kill them but deters them from that trail.

The most effective method of killing ants that I have used over the years and mentioned on here before is to lay a small line of cornmeal.
Did that the other day and no more flying ants or trails of ants have appeared on the path.
