Title: Fishing Season 2022
Post by: Aled on May 05, 2022, 12:02
Hello All
Hope my fellow anglers out there are all well. Season has kicked off here last month and i've been out to brush off the cobwebs. Looking forward to seeing a nice drop of rain to get the sea trout moving.
Anybody else been out?

Three trips on the river, only for browns. Typical early season chilly and not much about.
Had a few smallish ones but thats all.
I haven't fished for salmon/sea trout for a few seasons but if we get a bit rain to push through I might give it a shot.
The freezer is getting a bit low so I might have to get to a reservoir or local still water for a few casts.
Tight lines have a fantastic season 👍

A bit of rain here at the moment, hoping the river will rise, we really need a good spate, a lot of algae in the river which does not make for pleasurable fishing.

Just dug out my gear and gave it a dust off. Haven't been for some time due to illness, but met an old mate recently who I fished (and drank) with many moons ago, so it'll be nice to spend some time on the bank together and do some catching up. I'm having a bit of a sort-out as we speak...the wife informs me that nobody needs forty rods and thirty reels...what does she know, eh?  ;) :D

Thanks, Aled. TBH, things have been so difficult of late that I hadn't realised how much I was missing it until I got the gear back out. 47 years an angler and I can still remember that first perch glinting under the summer sun. Time to get back on the horse...

Nice one Rob! :D

Hard day on Clywedog on Wednesday wind made controlling the boat, and Dad found the casting difficult, so we ended up fishing the most sheltered part of the lake, which of course where the other anglers fished, and the fish there were hammered! We were relieved to get 1 each.
Cheers

Some sea trout turning up despite the low water, we really need a flood.

Rain has made a difference to the river last week. Got to the river on Saturday night expecting it to be low enough for night fishing, the river was coloured so i got straight in to fish. Lost a salmon of around 8lb, and managed a sea trout of around 2.5lb (returned), both fish took a size 8 black and red barbless wee double. A few other fish have been caught by other anglers as well.

Hot weather on the way again! Anyway managed a second sea trout last week, and had a few brown trout over 2lb. Hope some good rain arrives next week.
Cheers

Had a couple of decent browns on the worm lately. Wading is out for me for a little while so a bit limited on fishing the fly.
Did the ligaments in big toe and foot slipped down a clarty bankside when getting out of the river 😳
On the mend so hopefully I'll be back out in the water fluff chucking soon.

Well up to 3 sea trout this season better than last years 0! River has had a nice rise, so hoping for a salmon before the season closes on the 17th of October.
Anybody else out?

Salmon are being very conspicuous by their absence at the moment!
