Should I line this planter....
« on: June 19, 2019, 17:11 »
which I am seriously considering buying.  It is a VidaXL, from Wayfair.  It is made from solid wood !, but the picture shows, that the bottom of the box is not solid, and so I want to know, should I entirely line it, and what shall I put in the base, bcause it is going to be heavy when filled and planted.  If your answers are 'yes', what shall I use.    It is a birthday gift, and I have never had a planter like this before.  Mrs Bouquet

I can't see a pic of the bottom to see what you mean, but I'd line it with something like a compost bag with a few slits in the bottom for drainage. If you are worried about the weight of it when filled you could put some broken up polystyrene over the bottom, but it isn't really that deep (15ins) so depends what you are thinking of planting in it.

Thanks Mum,  the base is like very small trellis crisscross.   After I line it with the bags, shall I put some bench matting in the bottom to help with base water.   I don't know what to plant yet.    That will be another post  :D  regards,  Mrs Bouquet
