[Pretty Chick]

Bertie, 1 of my broody hens is sitting on 2 eggs: 1 mixed bantam and 1 black pekin.
Some of you probably remember I created a topic in the Hen House asking where to store hatching eggs.
Well, I went to a local breeder and collected some hatching eggs, let them rest for around 18 hours (for it was only a 10 min journey) and then put 2 under Bertie and 1 under Rosie (my other broody). I put them under them on Monday morning.

I have been away for a few days and came back last night. I then checked on them and found that Rosie's egg was ever so slightly cracked  . Sooooo I put another one under her (black pekin  ).

Anyway, the news is that I have just candled Bertie's 2 eggs and both are fertile   Hooray!!!!

I had never been to collect eggs before, so wasn't sure if they would start to develop after the journey, but they have!!!  

It's so exciting now knowing they are fertile and I hope nothing goes wrong. I keep telling myself 'Don't count your chickens before they hatch!'
