Growing Cauliflowers Under Runner Beans
« on: October 03, 2012, 13:26 »
Someone on the allotment mentioned that a good way to grow cauliflower is to plant them within the bamboo frame (not the wigwam type frame) when growing runner beans. She said that this gives the cauliflower a lot of shade and also keeps the weeds down around the beans. Has anyone else tried this?

I wouldn't. Both have different requirements, and one would hog the soil food and the other would suffer.

Also, I've never grown caulis in shade mostly because they do prefer sun.  If anything, plant some small lettuces and both crops would be happy.
