I find they vary hugely in volume, so the cheapest can be very meagre and thin, so it is worth checking out the price per litre

Hi.  Which? Gardening magazine have tested this year's grow bag offerings and the two top ones were Bord na Mona Growise (not one I've heard of but available in garden centres) at £3 for a 33 litre bag and Levington Tomorite Giant Tomato Planter at £5 for a 50 litre bag.  They scored 63%. Home base Grow your Own and Verve Fruit and Vegetable grow bags were next at 54%. Both were £2.  Verve Peat Free was a "don't buy".  Hope that helps!

I bought some Verve peat free compost (it was the same price as their normal compost). Its horrid, wet, slimy and coarse. I'm only handling it with gloves on :(

Thanks for all your advice. I totally agree re the verve peat free it is horrible stuff it dries out. I will never buy peat free again. I think I might try the homebase or b and q verve if you need several the cost adds up. I then use my tomato rings so it makes them deaper. Thanks
