Chicken dispatcher in Dorset
« on: September 13, 2011, 13:51 »
Hi all,

Does anyone know of someone in Dorset who can dispatch and dress 2 very large cock birds not having the expertise in doing this quickly or cleanly.
The neighbours are now getting a bit ticked off with them crowing so they have to go PDQ.

Thanks

sorry, perhaps you may need to go on a dispatch, gut and pluck course.
Staffies are softer than you think.

yes, that’s the idea, but the next course I have found is at the end of October in North Oxfordshire. If you know of any that are sooner I would appreciate it.

There will be some courses closer to your home than that I'm sure. Where in Dorset are you? This farm does the course too but it's not till November.  http://www.southyeofarm.co.uk/smallholder_training/index.htm

As a short term option

There are articles on this forum to show how to dispatch the birds humanely if your willing.

Then once dispatched try having a look on YOU-Tube there will be hundreds of video's on how to pluck, prepare a bird etc. I did something similiar after swapping eggs for some pigeons and rabbits from a game keeping mate.

Sorry for the delay in answering.

JaK, I am not far from Wimbourne. I will book the course, but still need to re-home them ASAP.

Kenilworth, thanks, I have looked at them and read up on it but not having actually done it, I don't want to get it wrong and cause suffering.
