Feeling guilty

Well just held a chick while hubby put a pellet in his head, it was only 6 weeks old, hubby didn't want to pull its neck, so decided to shoot it with the air gun', i made him do it twice just to make sure the little thing was really dead. It's the first time i have had any thing to do with dispatching a chook and i feel so guilty, it had to be done as the poor thing had a funny leg and it seemed as if it was in pain, had a swollen joint, and leg was sticking out to the side. Been giving it Baytril all week, but nothing was happening. I really couldn't watch it trying to hobble around another day. Not sure i will ever get used to this part of chicken keeping. RIP little one x

I read the thread on the other board about your chick with the funny leg. I think you were both very brave. Im very sorry for your sad loss. Dont feel bad though, you did the right thing.
