Hens pecking my slippers and garden boots.
« on: September 04, 2016, 16:34 »
Hi readers,
I have three lovely and fairly well behaved hens.
One thing that I not sure about is that the hens peck my slippers and garden boots. Not aggressively I might add.
At first I thought it was because they wanted feeding. No.
Then it occurred to me that they wanted me to go outside into the garden with them. No.
Now I believe that it might be that they want some snails. Why? because I crush then snails, especially the large ones so that the hens can then eat the snail and the shell. Otherwise they only swallow the smaller snails whole and try to eat the snail from the shell.
It you can think of any other reason the hens would peck my slippers and boots please let me know.

It might be food.  Chickens are simple creatures.  Everything might be food.  Best peck it to find out.

They'll have a peck at most things. Flip flops are not a good idea.

Mine have ruined two pairs of fabric shoes - always the right-foot one for some reason and alwaysthe brown colour. They totally ignore the black ones...

Strange thing the mind of a chicken.
