So we went to the auction...
« on: August 13, 2010, 14:46 »
...

We went to the auction that is held down the road. Went with a friend who is a chicken expert. Guess what we got :):

5 indian runners
3 Silkie Cockerels
3 Muscovy Ducklings
2 Silkies and Silke x growers
A black Silkie hen
A goose for my Gander
and...and...AND

POLISH FRIZZLES!!!!!!!!!

My chicken expert friend also go a female silver spangled hamburg for her male and, my dad helps this lady win a buff orpington cockerel she had fallen in love with...

If you do go to an auction be careful and always check befoooore you buy :)...what was labelled 4 silkie growers was actually 2 silkie growers and 2 silkie pekin crosses...Which i am immensly pleased about (broodys much) but you may not be so lucky.

Had to share my excitement :)

Congratulations Thingy,

What a family you have now got.  We keep meaning to go to auctions as there are many around but now I think it may not be the place for me.

Happy days ahead for you

OO...a calf...and a mini :/

I love auctions :). I say everyone should go...stop the poor loves being eaten straight away :(

Just be very carefull...and never buy an animal cos you feel sorry for it!!!!

Go right at the beginning, before the auction starts, to have a good look round at all the birds...and DON'T get carried away buying birds...my parents usually do then its up to me to house them all afterwards :)...took all day to get these lot sorted :)

I really want to go to the auctions (my mate told me about - and I quote - a bucket of six ferret kits for £2..!  ::) ) but I really don't have the facilities at the moment... and I certainly don't trust myself.

Wow...£2 for ferret kits (is jelous) (Wow, apologies for my spelling :tongue2:)

I think I got a silkie hen for £1 last time, and the buff orpington my dad won was £3.50 OO...its madness :tongue2:

You need a strong stomach though, those places are not nice. My inner animal behaviourist was ranting all the way through :tongue2:

A trip to Norfolk next year, I reckon.  ;)

I'm going to need a bigger house/garden/allotment! I was joking with Mrs Scabs about getting goats and she replied 'oh, I'd love them'!

Now THOSE are some fancy chickens and ducks!  Enjoy your new menagerie!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!
