Title: Minnie's chick
Post by: Jo57 on January 03, 2013, 18:24
Some of you  may remember Minnie's chick and my dramas during her hatching in the summer. She laid her first egg today. First chick hatched here and now first totally home grown egg. Just needed to tell people who KNOW how good that feels! Well done Georgie.

That is great.  I am still waiting for my first egg off my Welsummer bantam hatched last April.   :(  I bought another one the same age to keep her company and she has been laying for weeks.  So I will just have to wait to experience that lovely feeling.

I did have the pleasure of one of my broodies hatching one of her own fertile eggs which may be a similar feeling.

Oh how I remember that feeling of getting your first egg from your own hatched chick - it's wonderful isn't it  :D

Didn't have to wait long, my Welsummer bantam has laid her first egg and it is a lovely dark brown.  Soooooo proud.   :D
