As many of you know our friend and forum member Yabba (Paul) passed away, very sadly, not long ago.
This photo competition is to remember him.
Dahlias and Chillies were the things that most of us associate with Yabba so please post a photo in that theme.
There will be a prizes for the winners of a £10 gardening voucher each.
This competition will run until the evening of Sunday 25th September 2011
The simple rules:
- You can enter up to 3 photographs into the competition which should be no more than 640 pixels wide.
- It can be anything you want that is dahlia or chilli related.
- It should be accompanied by a short title and some description.
- The competition is open to all "Full Members" i.e. those with more than 50 posts.
- At the closing date we will add a poll for members to vote on and the most popular photo will be the winner.
- The winner will receive a prize as listed above and the winning photo may be placed in a permanent photo gallery along with the best runners up.
- Closing Date for Entries: Sunday 25th September 2011 when voting will be allowed for a week.

My plot neighbour's lovely Dahlias. He's in his eighties and cuts a bunch every Sunday for his wife.

Well I'm not the gardener so it will have to be a photo of Mrs HFs efforts in the garden here. I think these are dahlias though not prize blooms I'm afraid? Hope YABBA would have liked them anyway it's the thought that counts. :)

Yes, just trying to find the cable!
Here it is: not very good but I wanted to enter for Yabba. These were the only dahlias I spotted when walking through the site.

and I really must try and get off that last place -- wooden spoon again  :nowink:

Well done to all who took part!

Thanks everyone but I really did not intend on winning. What I am going to do is accept the voucher and then send Yabbas pregnant partner £10 in cash as they are in more need of it than me,
Many thanks to everyone who took the time to enter the competition and vote as I am sure it will be a great comfort for the family when they see how well regarded he was.
-
congratulations to the winners, and that's a lovely thought Iain :)
-
Congratulations all and Iain what a lovely gesture :)
-
Congratulations Iain and Jamie, and thanks to everyone who voted.
Iain, hope your winning photo gets a permanent spot on the site somewhere. :)
-
Good on you Iain and well done to all those who took part. It was after all about taking part and not really about winning.

John has some plans for the photos I believe.

Spana has very kindly offered to send the gardening voucher to me so that I can send the value of the voucher to yabbas family.
It will be much appreciated. Its great to see the kindness of people on here.

Great news everyone.
Baby Yabba is here.
At 13:08 today Verity Grace was born. Mother and baby are doing well.
She almost timed it with the end of our photo competition :D

What lovely news and what a lovely name. I hope she gives Mrs. Yabba and their families great joy and comfort.

Beautiful names and congratulations to mum.
