Stuck in the Box
« on: March 29, 2019, 11:52 »
    I have a bird box very close to my kitchen window.  A couple of weeks ago a sparrow was pecking at the hole, and got his head stuck.   I went out and freed him.
Yesterday, same again, pecking away and got into the box,  but couldn't get out.   I was due to go out myself, but couldn't leave and let that little bird die.    I took the box down, but there was no where to open it.  In the end I had to get a chisel and hammer, and try to break it open around the hole.    I thought this little bird will be dead now for sure.    I eventually managed to prise it open, and he popped out, looked stunned and then flew away.    I do hope he is alright.    The box is completely useless now.    I shall have to invest in a proper sparrow box for him  :)     Mrs Bouquet

Yes it was a tit box, with  a little round hole.  The sparrow box I had was of no interest to them at all. :nowink:  Mrs Bouquet
