Marmalade, love it or hate it?
« on: October 13, 2013, 16:48 »

Just finished bottling (well jarring actually) 18 jars of grapefruit and lemon marmalade (fruit dead cheap from the maket at the end of the day), tastes fab and I think I have a set.

Marmalade is like Marmite, you either like it or hate it, I love it. :)

Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

I too love it,I ended up with loads of fruit in January so have enough until next January, although I still have 2 tins of Marmande Seville orange stuff to use up. I have a recipe for marmalade cake that uses 3 tablespoons so we do get through quite a bit.

I love it and use the Mamade tins, with extras to ring the changes, throughout the year  ;)

Love it. I was lucky enough to get hold of some lovely organic Seville oranges this winter and they have made the most beautiful marmalade.   :)

My mum uses the Mamade tins too; she adds whisky sometimes.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Indeed.

Cointreau is an obvious alternative, too.

OH loves it and so do my customers.

I have half a freezer stuffed with prepared Sevilles, all done in January ready to be made into marmalade when needed.

I like adding some cinnamon, allspice and whisky with the orange marmalade,
as well as apricots with or without whisky, and with or without ginger or toasted walnuts. toasted walnuts.

Blueberries or lemon, or ginger with the grapefruit.

Great after kippers too!

I love marmalade, and the only time I was disappointed, was when I managed to get what they called the 'No 5', which was pathetic!

I go by the darkest jar...

LOVE IT!!!

I make it from my Grandad's recipe which is 3 fruits and cooked slow and long so it is really caramelised, dark and completely yummy!

I normally do 3 fruits but got mixed up this year & ended up with 4 x 3. So made 4 batches.

Love the flavour and texture of proper marmalade, but detest the bits. Hate peel in anything (OK with zest) so don't eat it. Hate anything orangey warm.
