Congratulations! Our opticians keep contacting me and saying how safe they are but I'm hoping to hang on until I've been done. I should have had new specs last March but for the plague. Oh well, another eye test and then the right prescription should stop the headaches.

We hear this a lot at the mo "waiting for me jab" I know a few opticians are now closing two days a week because their routine eye exams has dropped massively, not for us as we do GP CUES (emergency eye care) and we are monitoring hospital glaucoma patients to keep them out of hospital plus our own routing stuff so we are very busy.

The way the vaccinations are being ramped up is just fantastic. They're doing over 75s around here now.

Congratulations!!  I've received the letter offering me a vaccination appointment, but none of the venues are near enough for me to take advantage of it.  I'll just have to wait for my surgery to get in touch.  Just a thought for those of you who may, like us, have been fortunate enough not to have needed to visit a doctor for more than thirty years - are your contact details up to date at your surgery, and are you still even on their list?  Worth a check.  I've sent an email to ours just asking if they would mind checking for me and giving them our current contact details just in case they need amending.

Everyone is different with different circumstances etc, I can vouch for Opticians that I know go the extra mile to keep people safe, to be honest I know who are probably OCD.
Our doors are closed, its appointments only for everything, eye exams, dispensing of spex, collections (spex/ contact lenses)
Had a patient that needed to sign a form, I passed her the pen wrapped in a sterile wipe, she said "they dont that at the doctors" 
Think we are getting the Oxford by the sounds.

Our vet has a higher level of bio-security than the doctor! I'm sure opticians, dentists etc. are generally taking things very seriously and carefully. But the less interactions you have the less chance of catching it. I also think a lot depends on your perceived risk. 40 years ago I'd not have been concerned.
