To me it's a time to remember all the blessings we've had over the past year, to take stock of what and how well we did so we can learn from that next year, and to remember those who are no longer with us whether it be people or pets. My late dad-in-law would be so proud to see how well his grand-daughter has overcome her various difficulties and now has a lovely husband, two children and another on the way, and for us to be a part of their family means so much to us that I can't express in words but we show it in big loving hugs. It's an expression of the warmth of the fire that is ever-burning in our hearts, bringing out the lovely decs we have acquired over the years along with the scent of the Christmas tree whilst playing a CD of the carols we all know so well, but the switching on of our fairy lights can't compare with their shining eyes and their look of wonderment when they come into our little cottage. That's worth far more than gold and I wouldn't swap it for anything.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Well I don't like the commercialism and the excess it brings out   Having said that, it is nice to feel you can relax, have a few treats and spend some time with people without watching the clock.

It is a day when you cook (which I enjoy), eat, drink and count your blessings, whatever they may be  :)

I see Christmas as being for my grandchildren and just an unwanted indulgence for me and my wife. I tend to heave a sigh of relief on Christmas night knowing that in just over a week, life will return to normal with normal diets and less garbage on TV

For me It's getting together with family and counting our blessings, looking forward to the year ahead, and not entirely forgetting the reason for the holiday in the first place....

We will have 5 days with our daughter and granddaughter, and Christmas Day with our daughter, son in law and 3 grandsons too. They are 6, 5, 2 and 8 months. It will be manic but we love them to bits and treasure every moment whilst we can. Fortunately they all get along well!

Just another day - have been known to go up the allotment if the weather is good and the local family is elsewhere (that was a good year, got lots done and no interruptions).

I'm completely with you, a day of reflection, celebration and yes, a little indulgence. I've always loved Christmas and it's all the better now we have the sprog.
We lead busy lives with many challenges and it's great to have that one day a year where you just appreciate everything you have and what you have achieved and enjoy the family time.
In our house it's a great mix as the good lady and the child are Catholics whilst I'm a Godless heathen, yet I'm totally on board with the Christmas message and all it encompasses.
