Hell me again sorry to pester I have half filled some containers with compost and well rotted horse manure, they have been in the greenhouse and shed for a week warming . When can I plant the earlies in them bearing in mind that they will remain indoors till the frosts have gone ,thanks for looking ps the variety is pentland javellin :D
If the early bird gets the worm how come the 2nd mouse to the trap gets the cheese ??

If you can keep 'em indoors as you say I'd get 'em in anytime now.
If it wasn't for chemicals we'd be organic.

When things warm up, move them out if you can. They seem to just produce top and no tubers if they're too warm.

right wise people my containers that ive planted the spuds in are 15 " long 12" wide and 16" deep some have got 2 spuds in and others 1 just to compare the yield .Now my question is how much should i water them and what feed should i give,the spuds are planted in well rotted horse manure at least 4 yrs old and bagged compost

Feed a bit of tomato food when the tops show

Keep damp but don't flood them - use the measuring tool on your hand :)

i.e. stick your finger in to see how the soil is doing for moisture.

It's difficult to be exact on the feeding - the show growers all grow in containers but they mix fertiliser and peat to make a growing medium before they start, often using (I kid not) a cement mixer.

I was amazed how long a process it is.
