I have been reading up on wind and solar power for nearly two years. And yes you could with blades around 8 foot in diameter and carefully designed blades for maximum RPM. You would need at least 20MPH winds. Because this type of geny needs either 1500 or 3000 rpm to work depending on the windings. From my investigations wind and solar are very disappointing on out put compared to our current energy needs.
I came to the conclusion that other than for short term camping trips or running a low wattage electric fence ect wind and solar power is usless.

One of my contractor's said this the other day , now he is training to be a green engineer, thats sounds like it might be a way forward. Dont know much about it at all but what he was saying made sence.
