Fixing to a tree ?
« on: February 22, 2017, 18:06 »
Fixing to a tree , what is best practise for putting an eye bolt into a tree ( yucca palm) for a washing line ?

Steel , stainless or galvanised  just in or right through ?

Looking to do as little damage as possible ! :D

You can't tie the line around the palm rather than using an eyebolt ?

I don't think  a Yucca would stand up to having a hole drilled in it as it is not real "wood" like a tree, and the strain may well break it. Tying a rope round might be OK

I'd thread the washing line through a piece of hose pipe, then loop that around the trunk &  fasten it off after the length of hose

Sounds perfect as it will prevent the rope rubbing on the trunk

Thank you all for the  replies , i think a soft piece of hose sounds good , the 6" diameter
Yucca is up to the job as it has been supporting the washing line which ties in the top of my runner beans for a couple of years !
The line was just looped around and started to grow into the bark over the runner bean season.
Think i may have a scrap of flat hose which will spread the load !

Ta ! :)
