everything that decomposes goes on my compost heap except food and dog poop

all rots fine and goes back on the veg plot - I use the 3 year heap rotate method

Hi, just to add my two pence worth!
We made a composting area out of old fence and pallet panels.  These tend to get divided into 4 areas, all of which tend to get turned over every 2/3 months, weather and quantity depending.  So we use  the end product either when we actually need it, or when the oldest 'bin' area needs emptying, which sometimes ends up as an allotment/fruit mulch.
Into all of this goes all the chicken/quail poo with bedding (wood chip/aubiose/straw/shredded paper) along with lots of grass cuttings, which at this time of year also contains lots of mown leaves! I don't use any food products as we had issues with mice and rats when we had a plastic compost bin nearer the house/greenhouse, which we no longer use.
I do appreciate that we are lucky with the size of garden as the compost area is about 4m x 3m in an L shape.  It's one hell of a good workout, and luckily it doesn't particularly smell!!!
