Title: Calcium sprays for slug control?

Has any one tried deterring slugs with a calcium spray? BBC gardeners world recommend it but there are some bad reviews on Amazon for the one mentioned, Grazers G2 Formula.

I tried grazers spray before but really couldnt afford enough to spray after every rainfall in the west of Scotland. hand picking for me and my birds dont seem to like eating slugs or snails
