Can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of a nuisance Squirrel? This little fella seems to enjoy burying nuts from neighbouring gardens in all my veg pots!

My cousins OH shot the tail off a squirrel last year. they found it this year, tailless living under the hen house the size of a rabbit, fat on chicken feed and stolen eggs!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

We have squirells running through the garden to get to the walnut tree next door but one. We find buried walnuts all over the lawn. :)

Fun to watch   :D

Trap it and kill it. They are a menace and spread disease. Squirrel nutkin must survive!

There's somewhere up north where they'll call round to collect greys that you catch and pass them on to local restaurants, to support the red population.  I also know of someone who catches them in a cage, drowns and casseroles them.

OHHHH...they are cute!!! i feed mine.  he has his own squirrel box that he has to lift the lid on to get to his grub(even falls into it sometimes  )...he sits there for hours and never bothers with my crops (although there must be an acorn tree nearby as i find lots of holes in my lawn and post-it notes where he's burried them).

It is better to give them their own food than eat yours, and anyway, you may get rid of one only to get another.  so feed their greed and they will leave you crops alone.  works for me anyway.

I have a black squirrel that does the same. When digging ground over I have found lots of monkey nuts buried. Neighbour has the same problem, lots of buried monkey nuts. Found several small oaks around the garden also. Watched it dig a hole and bury something the other day just couldn't get out to stop it.

I dug a veg patch over a couple of weeks ago and not had a problem with it, wondering if it is the chicken poo that has been added as the area is ideal for nut burying.

dont give them monkey nuts as they ALWAYS bury these for a rainy day.  you can get a squirrel mix (sunflower seads etc) from most garden centers without them.  i bought the wrong one the other day and hubby (bless him) spent the afternoon taking the nuts out of the shells  ....gosh that makes us sound SO sad.
