I think Baytril is only supplied by a vet, and you have to have a prescription.  Also, Baytril has a 28 day egg withdrawal period, so bear that in mind... we had a backlog of 120 eggs in 3 weeks!

there are lots of different antibiotics available from your vets and not all have an egg withdrawal period after treatment - this is one of the reasons I prefer Aureomycin  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

I use tylan, which is also very good, and has no withdrawal period   :)

I have tylan in stock too along with Denegard which can be used on it's own or for stubborn cases along with other antibiotics - some work better than others on different birds.

Hi Rita,
my vet always prescribes enroxil which has no withdrawal period. It's been great for me in the past,

Rita, what do you need the Baytril for?

Different antibiotics treat different types of bacteria, so it is usually worth getting a clear diagnosis from a vet before deciding which one to use.  The vet will also be able to advise the best dosage, and how long to use it for.

sorry but a South African Website wont tell you the amount per bird (most are based on the weight of your bird) and if your order the wrong item it may not cure your bird and could prolong it's illness. It is best to build up a good relationship with your vet and get the prescription from them.
You need to find out why your birds are dying and a vet is the best person to decide this, just giving antibiotics for the sake of it will not help your birds - infact quite the opposite as it could make them immune to it when they could really do with the help. This is how super bugs are created  :(

Just a word of warning.  Antibiotics should only be used when necessary and should not be used as a prophylactic :)
