Hi there everyone, hope you are all enjoying the spring weather.

My husband had a heart attack, and can no longer push our big rotovator to the allotment.

So we have bought a Mantis tiller Deluxe XP 16" plus the wheel kit.

Please can anyone tell me how robust these wheels are on the roads and pavements.

We do not have transport so go via the road and its about 1mile to the allotment.

Will the wheels be up to going to and fro the allotment.

can you not keep it at the allotment    i have 3 rotovators  small mantis to a large wheel drive one.....all at the allotment

I have a smaller version than yours but it is not too steady whilst pushing it.  It is OK using the wheels to push around the allotment paths although to be honest I carry mine!  If I had to take it 1 mile to the allotment then I would put it in a wheelbarrow as I am sure that would be easier than pushing it.

The wheels can just about cope with that sort of journey. I push our Mantis about half a mile, but it is a bit unstable especially over potholes etc (which KCC kindly provide each winter)!

I'm looking at using a pair of pram wheels (with axle) to just rest the thing on. It works for the mower, and you can easily hold them in place with a bungee or similar!

Thank you for your replies.
Our site has been broken into quite a few times, so keeping the mantis there is not an option.
I am also looking at making some sort of flat trolley with 4x8" wheels to put the mantis onto.
Need to keep everything as light as possible so its easy to push.
With my bad shoulders and the hubby's heart problem, we wouldn't make a decent pair of bookends.

I put mine in a wheelbarrow and walk it to the allotment. Get some funny looks but not too many.

Thankyou for all your replies, we have to keep everything as light as possible.

Other half still struggles with anything to heavy, it causes angina pain.

So a wheelbarrow is a no no, adds to much extra weight.

Going to use the aluminium frame from a hoppa shopping trolley.

The mantis sits very nicely on it and it's very easy to push around the house & garden.

Just hope it ok on the roads and pavements.
