Charlotte as early,seconds and late.
« on: January 04, 2025, 11:57 »
I read a post recently that charlotte`s were bought in bulk for Association Members because so many liked them. They are one of my favs. and to cut down on costs I`m thinking of just charlottes for 1st, 2nd and main. They seem ok for baking, boiling, mashing but perhaps not the best for roasting/chipping.
Everyone has their favourites and "variety is the spice of life" but buying for specific cooking is quite expensive.
Has anyone an alternative single selection for a flavoursome `early` and all round `main`?

The difficulty you face is that potatoes are on the waxy to floury spectrum. Those which are more waxy don't do mashing or roasting very well, and vice versa.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
