Thanks snowdrops, an interesting read.
A bit pricey and the don`t have stockists in Warwickshire or the West Midlands! (includes Birmingham and Coventry}

Is Burbage, Leicestershire too far for you Sands? Burbage Gardening Club (of which I am chairperson & store manager) has a good range of goods in our members only store, but not Dalefoot composts. I am in the process of looking at stocking County Compost that is made 2 miles down the road from Burbage. We would need to order in serious quantities, loose loads. It is made from the garden waste collection service. I have had various amounts, personally over the last 10 years as a mulch for the garden & allotment. But I’m looking at seeing how we could put on make your own potting compost mixes workshops. My thought are that members would bring their own compost bags & fill them & we’d charge per litre. Only issue is accessing an area at the side of our store and the quantity I need to order 15- 20 tons! Also whether members would buy it.

I have used Dalefoot in the past.  I think it was in the pandemic and they would deliver.  Their standard stuff was fine but I had a real issue with their special compost for tomatoes.  A lot of mine developed an issue that I think was related to nutrition and had peculiar black areas on the fruit (not blossom end rot).  It was also very expensive.
I have had far better success with Melcourt Sylvagrow (my go to compost now).

The majority of peat is used by commercial growers as it is a successful media for seeds and young plants.
Some big gowers get their peat from countries that don't have legislation to restrict peat mining. Or the arctic.
