my briggs and stratton non sparker (new question)
« on: April 10, 2008, 18:11 »
thanks to Giwiz for the help given the other evening.
I do have another question and wonder if anyone can help?
I have a briggs and stratton model 92502 type 1044. im still trying to get a spark and am led to believe the points should be set at 0.02 is this correct and also the plunger has snapped but the 2 pieces together still push the arm back and forth if the points are set correctly do you think this will make a difference. thanks

Get a new plunger, the points gap will be constantly wrong otherwise, also, remember to put it in the right way around or it will allow oil to contaminate the points ( don't ask me how, it just does!)
The points should be set at 20 thou, As these engines are getting a little, shall we say, "old", i always go down to 18Thou.
hope you get it going, keep us posted!
