What is this bird ?
« on: August 25, 2019, 10:25 »
It is about 6 inches tall, and slim, with spindly legs.  It is a mid brown colour with a white flash to the side of its tail.   I haven't seen it fly, only walk about.  I thought it might be a baby pheasant, but it is not speckly.
Thanks,  Mrs Bouquet

When I first saw it, I thought Moorhen, but aren't they darker with a red beak ?    We are not near any water
on top of the Downs, not even a puddle  :D  Mrs Bouquet
