Hens sleeping in!
« on: April 09, 2011, 15:20 »
Hello again everybody.

Does anybody know why my two hens aren't coming off their roosting bar until I give them a wake up call?  It was 10.30 this morning!  When they come out they are behaving perfectly normally - no change.  Both seem happy and lively (when they've woken up that is!)

Cheers
Heather

I wish mine would lie in.  Can't help though I'm afraid.

The c lock going forward has affected our hens too, they are less pleased to get up at 6am (when we need them to get up so we can go to work) and they are very reluctant to go to bed at night as it is still light!
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)

We're lucky that we work from home, so if it doesn't matter to them, it doesn't matter to us! But I wondered if there was a problem.... they seem fine though  :)

I think they must be related to my teenage nephews.  If we see them before 11.00 am that is an early start for them  :D

Mine are laying in now as well but my girls are over three years old and they have got later and later to get out of bed in the morning. They used to call loudly to be let out at day break but now I practically have to prod them out with a stick (not really)  :D

As long as they are fit and healthy I wouldn't worry  :)

Thanks for the reassurance folks.

I guess they are both over three anyway, and Bella is a lot older than that for sure... they're probably just taking it easy then  :D
