I'm gonna grow them instead of runners this year.  Just haven't told the other half yet!  Runners may be his favourite veg. (he took 11 years to tell me this mind) but I prefer French beans and I grow em, and I've grown him runners for the last 4 years rather than French.  MY TURN!  :tongue2:  (Plus I picked up a packet of purple ones for 50p!  :D)

They are very tasty beans as green beans.  They're black-seeded, so you have very funny looking haricots if you dry them mature, but they taste nice.

I have had two bad years with Cobras, this for the most part has been the colder/ windier summers we have had here so last year I put some dwarf french beans in along side the Cobra's and they produced better so this year its loads of the dwarf for me again this year.

That rings true Aidy, my cobras weren't anywhere near as good down the lottie, where they're well exposed to the cold wind., compared with my Scarlet Emporer's  in a sheltered back garden, which were too productive TBH. ::) I'm going to put the Cobras in the garden this year and see what happens. 8)

None of my tall beans cropped last year - it was just too cold and windy on the allotment for them.  This year I'm planning windbreaks!
