Ive got both for next year - lets see!!

I have only ever grown sets, apart from spring onions. 
I got 2 pkts of onion seeds free with John's book......so, I'll be trying from seed next year

My three rows of seeds last year made 2 jars of pickled onions. My sets were the best ever.

I suspect that at the end of the day, this poll will not give a definative answer.

i'm busy growing my own sets overwinter to plant out in the spring; we shall see how those fare next year.

I never stick to just one method as if it goes wrong, it's only me that loses out.
