For the 2nd year running, I had to reseed my french beans 3 times before they started to crop. I think something eats them but not sure what. We don't get flying rats here nor foxes so I suspect mice or some sort of bug. Now they're cropping well. Think I finally used Ferrari. My Beurre de Rocquencourts did very well from one direct seeding and I'm leaving all my beans for a 2nd flowering. The runners are taking over the yard.

All my peas and beans needed resowing. I blamed the mice but some of it might have been just really slow gerimination due to a dry spell earlier in the year as I now have peas and climbing french beans where I gave up on the peas and sowed beans

We've had about 8lbs off our dwarf french beans so far. They are 'Safari' and 'Purple Queen' from Mr Fothergills. I think we have about 24 plants all together. The Purple Queen have been particularly prolific.

Thanks for all the replies. Either I have bad seed then, or I doing summat wrong. Will try again next year with some different varieties.

I'm going to put my autumn broad beans in that bed over winter.
