Growing celeriac
« on: June 05, 2011, 16:43 »
What do all you clever people thing about growing celeriac now?  Have decided that Chard really isn't going to do much and will have a bit of space if I pull up the paltry shoots that have come up.  Is it worth trying some celeriac now or is it way too late for it?

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

chard not doing much   have you been watering it enough?
Celeriac needs a lot more water than chard does, so you may be replacing one not doing much...with one that will do nothing if  this weather carries on ???

It's entirely up to you, but most posters said it was too late.

-no-far too late now-it takes a long time to grow and you will be wasting your time unless you can find some strong plants in a nursery etc. and be quick!
Chard grows easily -start again with some fresh seed...bootifull it is too :D

Yes, but added to the mix is that I was given some free celeriac seeds and have no chard seeds left!!  Also just fancied something else.  Maybe just more carrots or even turnips.

Put the seeds on one side for early next year when you're not starting anything else off  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
