Stakes/anchor pegs
« on: June 09, 2013, 08:02 »
I'm cutting some earth steps down a sloping bit of my plot and need to peg the 'risers' securely into my stony soil.  Does anyone have any tips for making points on 2 x 2 pegs or even on round stakes?  I've found hand-sawing a point very difficult!  Ideally using hand tools only.

Thanks.  Not got an axe, but might get one from a car boot and try it out.

I've seen a joiner use a sharp chisel.

Thanks.

I've decided to buy some!   I thought I'd make my own when I found them at £2.64 EACH in Travis P's.  A bit of a phone around and I got some for 60p a piece.  Rough sawn, but treated, longer ..... and nice and pointy!  :D
