After a Prolapse?
« on: July 27, 2012, 18:39 »

Our Black Rock suffered a prolapse last week.

I did a search on here, and found it best to use hemorrhoid cream.

It has worked really well, the PL has gone back in, but I'd like to know if there's anything else I should be doing now....

She's much brighter now, but not quite there... she doesn't seem to want to eat much  :( (from what I've seen anyway).

cut out all treats and make sure she has unlimited access to layers pellets or mash, water and crushed oyster shells. Keep a close eye on her when she gets back into laying eggs as the prolapse can re-occur.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Glad she's mending. After a prolapse one of ours also went off her food and wouldn't touch pellets or corn. Perhaps she linked the food with the problem? No idea. After a month she was back to normal feeding but became quite thin in the meantime. She also avoided any feeding with the others which behaviour seems to be continuing.

This is excatly ours is doing at to moment, see won't feed we the others, but takes a few bits of pellets out your hand - but not very much though..
