Hi All

We've been finding it awkward to get POL pullets locally at a reasonable price. We had 4 booked for the 1st week in May. But the lady who took our order has put it back a week. We still havnt heard from her this week, but to be fair I believe it is her supplier who is messing her around.

We have found someone who has 9 week old chicks available, but..... is there anything else involved in looking after chicks this age as opposed to pullets?

My coop isnt heated (yet) would it need to be?

What age is P.O.L.?

Heated?? No you would not need heating they have big feather lined jacket.  No difference between a 9 week old chook and an older chook.

I used these links to get in touch with suppliers initially, and it is also one of these people who has the 9 week old birds available.

I stay in central Scotland.

We just wernt sure if a bird as young as that would need any extra care as opposed to an adult bird, we have sorted our set-up round what is needed for adults.

What age do they come into POL?

Most chickens come into point of lay from 16 weeks, but realistically its 19 weeks. But can be up to 24 weeks and if its winter, not untill the days lengthen.
