So do you recon it is Lavatera.  Years ago I grow Silver Cup -dont know if you can still get it - it was pink.  Its so annoying  :blink:  I'll pot up the seed but it must be soooo old i doubt it will germinate ::)

I tipped the seed out of the pkt and they ain't like that...honest......unless that is a complete seed head?
individual Lavatera seeds are small and not unlike a cabbage seed.....that sort of size  ::)

By pot marigold do you mean calendula. It does look a bit like that except calendula is paler and they are semi circles.................ermm! not really like it at all then LOL.  I must admit though thats the first one that came to my mind.  But I'm sure its not.

No, I just planted calendula and the seeds aren't like that at all.

Musk mallow is actually part of the hibiscus family, and is sometimes known as Malva moschata. Here's a pic of the seeds, close but not quite I think:
