Try giving it some rose fertilizer and see if that greens it up :D

How can you prevent it - niffy stuff

Galric or chives is also a good way of detering aphids away if grown underneath a rose bush.

i tried the garlic one year i didn't seem to make any impact on the aphids , it was a bad year though .

It doesn't seem to make much difference, I'd agree, the pale leaves can be caused by a lot of things, feeding is a good one for starters, beyond that if they are yellowish pale, can be a particular deficiency or virus or...etc.
-
but its only a baby , its greenish pale not yellowish , going to give it some poo and its not had its banana this year so far.

Oh, baby leaves are much lighter in colour, hopefully it's all there is to it. 8)

I've never tried rose cuttings, this year I stuck the prunings from our one rose and stuck them in the ground - to discourage the cat from using that area as a toilet - it's worked, but also it looks like some of them may have taken. How soon am I likely to know? Should I pot them on at all at some point, or do I just leave them where they are? If so, for how long?

I'd leave them for the season, only to establish well, I don't think it matters too much when exactly you move them after that, best before new growth in next spring, but it's hard to kill a rose, once going.

Thanks for that gobs. Will leave them put for as long as pos this year.

Sorry if I'm late on this but there are three deficiencies which affect the rose and cause yellowing leaves.
Lack of one of the following minerals
Magnesium
Potassium
Nitrogen
Hope this helps.
