Hi
Just modifying my old duck house to house 2 white silkies that we are collecting on Sunday and wondered how high and wide I should make their perches, I understand they dont fly so was assuming it would be lower then a standard chicken.
Also how big should I make the nest box
many Thanks

Hi Darren, wish I could help, but my 4 Silkie's don't like perching! :)

Hi Darren,
My silkie isn't a great percher either - but I only ever see her on the low perch in their house. Its about 2 inches off the floor, and about 2 inches wide, with edges rounded off.
Good luck tomorrow, enjoy your girls!

My 4 silkies don't ever use a perch. They are quite happy sitting on the floor. Great chooks too!!

I have 11 silkies and only one perches :) It does it so that it can poo in the water below  :tongue2:
I have to cover the bars of the pen below with a towel so that the poo doesnt drop in and contaminate it. ::)
